Many people ask me why I don't review more phones, but the truth is that I don't have access to phones for testing purposes. The phones you see reviewed on this page have either been purchased outright, or I have taken advantage of the generous return policies offered by Fido and Clearnet PCS. Obviously there is a limit to how many phones I am going to buy personally, and there is certainly a limit to how far I will stretch the generosity of Fido and Clearnet.

What I need is a source of phones that I can borrow for the purpose of testing. If you are in a position to lend me phones I have not tested, or you know people who are, then I would really appreciate hearing from you. You can e-mail me at pcsguide@rogers.com. If you run a retail outlet, perhaps we can work out a trade involving advertising.

Words of Warning: Many newer reviews make reference to older reviews, and this sometimes creates apparent inconsistencies in the overall assessments of various models. Reviews are relative by nature, and so what seemed like a great phone a year or so ago, may seem only mediocre now because other phones have "raised the bar" so to speak. If you find that I'm being negative about a phone, while saying it's about the same as a phone I once gave positive reviews to, this a perfect example.

It is also possible that one phone might get a "thumbs up" assessment, while another seemingly similar phone gets a "thumbs down" assessment. This can happen due to the lack of a certain feature, or because a particular facet of the phone (such as its audio quality) was poor on one, and great on another. The T28w and T38m are good examples of this. While I didn't have a T28w to compare directly to the T39m, I had go by my original assessment of the T28w's audio qualities, which I remembered as being better than the T39m.

In the case "World Phones" (GSM models that support 1900 MHz as well as 900 and/or 1800 MHz) that I can only test RF performance at 1900 MHz. For all I know, a phone that performs very poorly at 1900 MHz may in fact perform exceedingly well at either 900 MHz or 1800 MHz. You should consider this possibility when deciding upon a world phone. Check with reviews written outside of North America for information about RF performance at other frequencies.

For now however, here are the phones which I have reviewed:
